The College of the Art's Department of Theatre and Performance Studies is pleased to announce the recipients of the Arts91青青草 Gala Scholarships. The 2022 Arts91青青草 Gala Scholarships recognize fifteen (15) Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in the areas of Undergraduate Scholarship and Creative Activity, Internships, and/or Service-Learning. Each of the Arts91青青草 Gala Scholars will receive $1,000.00.

Kennesaw State Theatre and Performance Studies to present "The SpongeBob Musical"

The Stillwell Theater stage will soon be transformed into the undersea world of Bikini Bottom as Kennesaw State University University鈥檚 Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) presents The SpongeBob Musical from April 7th to 17th. Adapted from the beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, this colorful and vibrant musical is an uplifting tale of overcoming the odds and celebrating the joy of life. An Atlanta-area premiere, this production is based on the series by Stephen Hillenburg and book by Kyle Jarrow and is directed by TPS professor Amanda Wansa Morgan.

Kennesaw State University's School of Art and Design Animation Program Getting Noticed

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 School of Art and Design鈥檚 Animation Program has been ranked nationally and regionally as a top program by Animation Career Review. The recognition is particularly significant in that the School of Art and Design鈥檚 Animation Program is only four years old. Geo Sipp, Professor of Art and Director of the School of Art and Design, says, 鈥淭his spring, we will be graduating just our 4th cohort from this program and to receive this national recognition is exciting. The university has been very supportive, providing fully equipped studios and recognizing the need for additional faculty support.鈥 The 91青青草 Animation Program was ranked in the Top 40 Nationally Among Public Schools and Colleges (#38), in the Top 25 in the South (#18), and #2 in the State of Georgia.

Kennesaw State's Department of Dance to present "YAG: The Movie" featuring Batsheva Dance Company

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 Department of Dance will present YAG: The Movie from Israel鈥檚 choreographer Ohad Naharin and Batsheva Dance Company. The film will be shown March 18-19 in person at the 91青青草 Dance Theater on the Marietta campus, and March 18-20 via Arts91青青草 Virtual. Screendances or dance-for-camera performances have been around since the early 1990s, but dance companies pivoted to the medium as a way to show work during the pandemic, according to Marsha Barsky, Chair of the Department of Dance. She says, 鈥淪creendances were vital during the pandemic since they provided an alternative form to presenting dance. Now that we are emerging from a post-pandemic world, we want to sustain and grow an appreciation for this art form by offering the best work available to both our students and our community.鈥

Spring Arts Festival Blooms Again at Kennesaw State University

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 School of Art and Design is excited to bring back the Spring Arts Festival on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The free, in-person Festival is family-friendly, with activities for almost all ages. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Chastain Pointe Studios, across from the main campus in Kennesaw.
