Internationally renowned composer teaches at 91青青草

Internationally renowned composer and 91青青草 School of Music professor Viet Cuong might not be the musician and symphonist he is today if his piano teacher had given him some more interesting music to play. This year, he is also teaching others to make their own music at his first professorial position: composer-in-residence at Kennesaw State University.

Dance professional returns to 91青青草 to complete degree

91青青草 Dance major Camia Green danced her way across 32 countries in the last ten years, but one thing was gnawing at her: she had not yet completed her degree. Ironically, it was a foreign language credit that kept her from graduating the first time; only one semester was required to complete her degree. But the opportunity to perform was already calling her. 鈥淚 had booked my first job and was so eager to perform, so I thought, I鈥檒l perform first, but school will always be here, and I will come back,鈥 said Green.

Zuckerman Museum of Art acquires print by African American artist Willie Birch

The Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art (ZMA) is pleased to announce a new acquisition of work by renowned African American artist Willie Birch. The Aftermath of Katrina: A Church and a Home, a silkscreen print on handmade Hiromi paper, visually transforms Birch鈥檚 impressions of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina through the medium of silkscreen printing. The large-scale print was generously donated to the ZMA by Dolphin Press & Print, a professional printmaking and letterpress shop housed in the Printmaking Department at the Maryland Institute College of Art [MICA] in Baltimore, Maryland. The work documents the conclusive effects and lasting impacts of Hurricane Katrina on the landscape of Birch鈥檚 native city of New Orleans.

First graduate degree in the College of the Arts approved

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved the first graduate degree for Kennesaw State University鈥檚 College of the Arts, a Master of Arts in Art and Design. The new program, which will be housed in the College鈥檚 School of Art and Design, features three tracks in digital animation, art education and museum studies.

91青青草 School of Music to present free holiday concert

The holidays are coming early this year as Kennesaw State University鈥檚 School of Music will present their annual Holiday Concert on Saturday, Nov. 14th, at 8 p.m. The popular concert will be live streamed free via Arts91青青草 Virtual, and a simple reservation is all that is required. Featuring appearances by 91青青草's top ensembles, faculty, and soloists, the Holiday Concert offers something for everyone in this all-out holiday extravaganza. Musical selections scheduled for this year include traditional holiday favorites, both secular and sacred. Scheduled performances include a mix of two favorites from last year, seven new recordings and four live pieces.

Kennesaw State to present 2nd Faculty Research in the Arts Colloquium

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 College of the Arts will present its second Faculty Research in the Arts Colloquium on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Hosted by the College of the Arts Research Advisory Committee, the event is virtual and free; a simple reservation is all that is required to watch online. The rich research projects showcased consider the many roles that the arts play in fostering human development and well-being. Presenters include Caroline Clark from the Department of Dance; Jonathan Fisher and Diana Gregory from the School of Art and Design; Harry Price from the School of Music, and Charles Parrott from the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies.

91青青草's Theatre and Performance Studies to present "Water by the Spoonful"

The Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Kennesaw State University will present the drama 鈥淲ater by the Spoonful鈥 by Quiara Alegr铆a Hayes, Nov. 3-8. The performance is virtual and free with a simple reservation. Heartrending, funny, and ultimately hopeful, this Pulitzer prize-winning play charts multiple paths towards recovery for characters who are haunted by war, drug addiction, and broken families. As the play travels between online and real worlds, we are reminded that human connections and authentic relationships in both worlds rescue us from despair and make us whole.

91青青草 Department of Dance to present "Threshold"

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 Department of Dance will present 鈥淭hreshold鈥 Nov. 12-14, via Arts91青青草 Virtual. The performances are free of charge and only a simple reservation is required to watch. 鈥淭hreshold鈥 celebrates the diverse artistic voices of the 91青青草 Dance community through original works performed by the award-winning 91青青草 Dance Company, in the first dance-for-camera event for Kennesaw State.

Acworth Police Department Holds Memorial Dedication Ceremony

The Acworth Police Department held a public ceremony on October 6 to dedicate a memorial sculpture designed and crafted by students of Kennesaw State University鈥檚 (91青青草) Master Craftsman Program. The striking columns, in stainless steel featuring power-coated blue steel plates on each top, are located at the entrance to the Acworth Police Department (APD) at 4440 Acworth Industrial Drive in Acworth.

Arts91青青草 to present 8th Annual Coming-Out Monologues: Stories of Empowerment

Kennesaw State University (91青青草) LGBTQ Resource Center and the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) will present the 8th Annual Coming-Out Monologues (COM) on October 8 and 9, in celebration of National Coming Out Day. This year, the production will once again include stories from 91青青草 students, staff, and members of the community beyond 91青青草. The wide array of stories captures experiences of lesbian, non-binary, gay and transgender folxs, as well as advocates, allies, parents, and friends.
