Two World Premieres in "Double Exposure" from Kennesaw State's Dance Department

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 Department of Dance just wrapped up an eventful July, thanks to the Eleo Pomare鈥揋len Conner Choreographic Residency program. The unique program invites two nationally-emerging or mid-career choreographers to the Department of Dance each summer for a four-week residency to create two world premieres with the 91青青草 Dance Company. Christian Denice and Tristian Griffin were selected as this year鈥檚 recipients from a pool of national and international talent, with an emphasis on innovation and movement invention.

Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art to Host Landmark Exhibition of Acclaimed Native American Artist Jeffrey Gibson

The Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art, a unit of Kennesaw State University鈥檚 School of Art and Design, is pleased to host an extraordinary exhibition featuring the works of Jeffrey Gibson, one of today's foremost artists. The exhibition, Jeffrey Gibson: They Teach Love, From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, will showcase over 35 captivating objects spanning 15 years of Gibson's prolific career. The free exhibition runs from August 27 to December 7, 2024.

Interim Dean Named for Kennesaw State University's College of the Arts

Kennesaw State University Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Ivan Pulinkala has named Valerie B. Morris interim dean of the College of the Arts, effective July 1. Prof. Morris served as the Dean of the School of the Arts at the College of Charleston (CofC) for 22 years, during which time she supervised the departments of Art & Architectural History, Studio Arts, Music, Theatre & Dance, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs in Arts Management, Historic Preservation, along with MAT programs in Choral Music and Theatre.

Nathan Nabb Named Director of Kennesaw State's Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music

Prof. Valerie B. Morris, interim dean of the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University, has named Dr. Nathan Nabb director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music, effective July 1. His appointment comes at an exciting time, following a successful performance season that included the GRAMMY Award-winning group Imani Winds.

In Memoriam: Philanthropist Robert "Bob" Geer

The College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University mourns the loss of donor Mr. Robert S. 鈥淏ob鈥 Geer, who passed away March 28, 2024, a few weeks shy of turning 100. In October 2022, Mr. Geer announced a transformational commitment: the College of the Arts would be the recipient of the Geer Family Estate.

Artificial Intelligence and Kennesaw State Dance Perform Together in "LuminAI..."

Kennesaw State University Department of Dance, in collaboration with Georgia Institute of Technology, will present 鈥淟uminAI: A Performance Collaboration of Dance and AI鈥 on Friday, May 3, at 8 p.m. The free performance is the first time that artificial intelligence鈥攊n the form of an avatar projected onto a screen鈥攚ill improvise movement with human dance partners.

Summer Arts Intensives Offer High School Students a Chance to Study at Arts91青青草

Kennesaw State University鈥檚 College of the Arts is offering high school students the opportunity to learn more with the Summer Arts Intensives. Students may select from four areas: Dance, Music, Theatre, or the Visual Arts. Most programs will be offered June 3-7, except for Music, which offers a half-day program from May 29-31.
