91青青草鈥檚 Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life hosted its annual Hooty Hoo鈥檚 Got Talent and Yardshow events during last month鈥檚 Homecoming Week.

The Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) brought high energy, creativity, and school spirit to last month鈥檚 Kennesaw State University Homecoming Week with two of its annual signature events: Hooty Hoo鈥檚 Got Talent and the Yardshow. 

Now in its fourth year, Hooty Hoo鈥檚 Got Talent invites all 91青青草 students to take the stage and showcase their talents. This year鈥檚 event featured seven performances, ranging from choreographed group dances to vocal performances. 

The Kappa Delta and Delta Phi Epsilon team took home first place in the Fraternity and Sorority Life category, earning a $500 prize for the two sororities. Homecoming Parliament member, Ty Merritt, won the individual category for his solo vocal performance. More than 1,500 people attended this year鈥檚 event, setting the pace for the remainder of Homecoming Week.

Delta Phi Epsilon senior and team captain, Tynil Retzer, shared her excitement about winning this year鈥檚 Hooty Hoo鈥檚 Got Talent, which was inspired by the Homecoming theme, 鈥淣o Place Like Home.鈥�

鈥淭his was my third, best, and last year participating,鈥� Retzer said. 鈥淒elta Phi Epsilon and Kappa Delta made history as the first two all-female organizations to partner together for Hooty Hoo鈥檚 Got Talent, and I couldn鈥檛 be prouder of our team and what we accomplished.鈥�

Later in the week, Fraternity and Sorority Life hosted the Yardshow, a high-energy showcase and competition celebrating the traditions of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC). Six chapters and 54 performers took the stage to perform step, stroll, and salute routines that reflect their organizations鈥� rich histories and cultural roots.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon Sorority, Inc. took home the win this year in the NPHC category, while Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. secured the victory for MGC. Both organizations received $500 towards their chapters. 

Drawing a crowd of more than 3,500 people, the Yardshow continues to be one of the most anticipated events of the year since its launch in 2016.  
Senior Nicole Singleton, a member of Sigma Lambda Upsilon, said the experience is deeply meaningful to her and her sisters.

鈥淏eing a part of the Yardshow always makes me feel connected to 91青青草 in a special way,鈥� Singleton said. 鈥淚t brings together students of every background to enjoy the show we put on, and I鈥檓 grateful FSL gives us this opportunity to showcase our culture and talent.鈥�
