91ÇàÇà²Ý is strengthening digital accessibility to ensure our websites, documents and media work for everyone. Use the resources below to request help, complete training, and take the steps to make your content accessible. These guidelines apply to content published across 91ÇàÇà²Ý's digital platforms, including kennesaw.edu and campus.kennesaw.edu.

Updates to ADA Regulations

Recent updates to federal ADA regulations require public universities to ensure digital content meets current digital accessibility standards by April 26, 2027. Digital accessibility includes websites, applications, social media, video, course materials, documents, and more.

Kennesaw State has established an Institutional Framework for Digital Accessibility that outlines the university’s commitment to ensuring digital content meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA, in accordance with federal requirements under the ADA and Sections 504 and 508. 

Monthly Web Accessibility Updates

Each month through April 2027, the Strategic Communications and Marketing Team will highlight a high-impact web accessibility focus area marked for improvement across 91ÇàÇà²Ý websites. Website owners and content points of contact (POCs) will receive clear actions to take on the pages they manage, while the Web Team continues technical remediation, tracks progress scores in Siteimprove, and shares updates as focus areas change.

October Accessibility Focus: Heading Structure 

Clear heading structure helps website visitors understand and navigate well organized web content, especially those using assistive technologies. Pages should use one clear H1 for the primary topic, followed by an H2, H3, and H4 headings in a logical order for the page. 

Website owners and POCs should: 

  • Review heading issues identified on your website in Siteimprove. 
  • Correct heading structure on pages you manage. 
  • Use one clear H1 for the primary page topic. 
  • Organize content using a logical H1, H2, H3, H4 hierarchy. 
  • Address identified heading issues no later than October 30, 2026.
