Kennesaw State University (91青青草) continues to be a state leader in the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence, with the addition of a bachelor's degree in AI approved Tuesday by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. 91青青草 becomes the first institution in Georgia to offer both bachelor鈥檚 and graduate degrees in artificial intelligence.

Under the mentorship of assistant professor Da Hu, Kennesaw State University student researcher Kiara O鈥橬eal is using drones and artificial intelligence to improve post-disaster recovery efforts and reduce response times. O鈥橬eal, a junior computer science major from Ludowici, Georgia, is one of dozens of students engaged in Kennesaw State鈥檚 Junior & Senior Scholars Program, which pairs undergraduate students with faculty mentors for hands-on research experiences.

Like many young boys, Kennesaw State University student Sulaiman Shaikh once dreamed of becoming an astronaut. As a child, he was always fascinated with discovery and had a passion for exploring the unknown. Now a double major in physics and computer science with a minor in mathematics at the College of Science and Mathematics and the College of Computing and Software Engineering, Shaikh is fueling that passion by exploring the quantum world of theoretical condensed matter physics, with the goal of making better-performing electronics.

Kennesaw State associate professor leads effort to strengthen juvenile justice programs through data analysis

Each year, hundreds of Georgia鈥檚 youths leave juvenile justice facilities hoping for a brighter future. Helping them stay on that path is the focus of the Annual Recidivism Report, led by Kennesaw State University associate professor Austin Brown. Supported by a $62,000 Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) grant, the report evaluates the reliability of existing data systems and measures the effectiveness of intervention programs aimed at reducing youth reoffending across the state.
